With the Missouri River only 5 blocks from my house, I grew up fishing. I used to ride my bike 5-10 miles the night before, to get nite crawlers, then ride down to the river, at 6 am, with anyone that would come, and fish all day. With that much time spent in the outdoors, it only seems fitting, that I pursue hunting as a pastime, too. The first time my dad took me hunting, we were walking the ditches around my hometown of Yankton, South Dakota. My dad pointed down a row of corn and said walk down this one, slowly and be ready! I had no idea what he had seen, or what I needed to do. As I got 10-20 yards down the row, a rooster jumped up, and flew right to left...one shot later (and with a little luck), we had a fresh South Dakota pheasant for supper.
After earning my broadcast television/advertising degree, I went to work for an advertising agency in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1995, I got the privilege of becoming the TV editor/photographer for Tom Miranda Outdoors, who currently has four shows on ESPN (www.TomMiranda.com). In the time I work for Tom, he taught me many, many things about editing/shooting outdoor content and the outdoors in general.
A couple years ago, at a local hockey game, Mendel & I started talking about "throwing together" a coyote hunting show. This was the birth of "Coyote Overdose." With Mendel, Merris and Paul's expertise in the predator hunting/calling and what I know about editing and shooting hunting shows, it has become a perfect match. |
