 A third generation coyote hunter, I grew up in O'Neill, Nebraska. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of pursuing coyotes. Every year my family would go deer hunting in the fall, but the urge to hunt coyotes always seemed to dominate. The thrill of getting a coyote always seemed to be greater for me than it was from getting a deer; hence, my love of hunting coyotes was born.
When I was around 15 years old, I started getting serious about the art and science of calling coyotes. My dad, brother, and I would spend numerous weekends throughout the winter calling. Every year I would try to refine my skills to improve success. In the past 18 years, the challenge of hunting the wily predator has been a constant urge and has driven me to try to become the best caller I can be.
I currently live in Lennox, South Dakota and work for the Natural Resources Conservation Service as a District Conservationist. Although coyote hunting dominates most of my spare time, I also enjoy hunting deer, elk, antelope, and upland game; as well as running the occasional trapline with Paul for coon in the fall or beaver in the spring. |
